Losing iGoogle
« on: Friday 11 October 13 14:59 BST (UK) »
Like many others I shall be sad to lose iGoogle whan it closes in November.  I had personalised my page, adding features such as BBC news, weather for my area, time, calculator, etc, all visible when I opened the page without clicking on any other buttons.  I'm a bit of a novice at these things, but maybe it's possible to do this with another programme.  I'm currently using Mozilla Firefox.  Would value other opinions.

Hi Gillg
As you're using Firefox try the add-on SuperStart. I use it set up as my homepage with a lot of what would otherwise only be bookmarks/favourites. It works very well I find.

Thanks, Alan.  I'll give it a go, but will have to consult with my husband first in case it interferes with something he's doing.

And ighome seems to work .  Initially I had an issue with password recognition but after changing it I was able to get both ig and ighome to understand that I wanted to access my gmail.
It is a pity that Google is moving away from supporting PC and laptop screens. Finding a one- screen replacement for ig will enable one to continue to see the "information world" at a glance.
