Aided immigration from Britain to South Africa 1857 to 1867
« on: Monday 07 October 13 07:51 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to this book? I am trying to find anything on:

Page 632: McManus, Joseph (29) Plasterer
Page 370: Peterkin, Jane (19) House servant

As far as we are concerned, they arrived in Australia from SA . That's it - I am not even sure what is supposed to be in the book. ...

Hi ,

I'm going to move this to the South African board.
Think it will have a better chance of success there rather than the Scotland Resources board.

If no one is able to help, depending if and where you are in UK, you may be able to view it at one of the following places where a copy is held:

National Library Scotland, Edinburgh

National Library of Wales
Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru

Sutton Central Library

The British Library, St. Pancras

University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies
SOAS

Hi bme

http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/10990788?q=aided+immigration+from+britain+to+south+africa&c=book&versionId=12855451#tabs10990788=2
This is the link to Trove which lists the 2 libraries that hold a copy of the book.

If you are unable to get an inter-library loan, it may be worthwhile contacting them with a lookup request.

I recently had success with a basic enquiry to a library in NZ.  :)
