Donnelly/McCormick
« on: Monday 07 October 13 02:51 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for info on a family I found on the 1901 census.

Reisdents in 13 Claragh, Seaforde.

McCormick Family:

1. Head Michael age 60 a farmer
2. Wife Ann age 50
3. Son Philip age 23
4. Son Henry age 20
5. Philip age 11
6. Mother in law Rose Donnelly age 87.

I believe the Rose Donnelly mentioned is my Great Great Great Granny widow of Hugh Donnelly of Banbridge.

My Donnelly Family:
1. Hugh Donnelly & Rose Fegan
2. Felix Donnelly & Catherine Downey
3. Felix Donnelly & Mary Ann Foster
4. Mary Rose Donnelly & James Madden.

Can you help?

There are more details of the Donnelly family on several other topics of yours.

Exactly what are you looking for now that hasn't already been found?

I am finding it difficult to trace the female members of the Donnelly family as they may have married.

I posted the Donnelly/McCormick msg hoping to find living In Law relatives who may be searching.

I added my other Donnelly info to make the connection easier.

What female members of the Donnelly family? Your initial post here lists a McCormick family consisting of a couple, their three sons and husband's mother- no unaccounted for Donnelly females. However, the details you've posted are not quite accurate-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Down/Seaforde/Claragh/1227342
The 11 year old is Secilia McCormick (a daughter) not another son named Philip.

So, who are the 'female members of Donnnelly family' you are trying to trace?

Hi, I believe that Ann McCormick is the daughter of the Rose Donnelly mentioned in the census.

If that is so then I am hoping McCormick researchers are looking too.

Also if this Rose Donnelly turns out to be my Great Great Great Granny I may be able to find the death/burial info for Rose & her husband Hugh Donnelly.

Hi, at long last I have found my relatives Hugh Donnelly & Rose Donnelly nee Fegan.
It turns out that Rose Donnelly aged 87 of Claragh, Seaforde (1901) is not my relative.
I found the burials for my Hugh & Rose Donnelly of Banbridge:
Hugh Donnelly 10.01.1885 of Friar’s Place, Banbridge, a tailor. Patrick Bothwell, son-in-law, present at death.
Rose Donnelly 19.01.1889 of Friar’s Place, Banbridge, widow of a tailor. Ann Donnelly, daughter, present at death.
Patrick Bothwell married Hugh & Roses daughter Rose in 1871. So far I have found 9 children for Patrick Bothwell & Rose Donnelly:
1873 Mary
1875 Rose
1877 John
1879 Anne
1880 Catherine
1883 Patrick
1884 Hugh
1886 James
1888 Anne.
I am a happy tree-searcher ;D ;D ;D

My mother's ggg grandparents  were Catherine Donnelly  born 1826 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada , who married Stephen David Johns of Wales that emigrated to Rochester, New York.  Catherine  Donnelly  and Stephen David Johns relocated to Port Hope  , Ontario, Canada. Their son Emmerson Edmond Johns  married Charlotte Jane Fisher and their daughter Mabel Johns was my great grandmother  who married  Samuel  John Toms of Cobourg.  Catherine Donnelly  had a brother  William  Donnelly  born 1824 in County, Armagh, Ireland  who came with his parents  Michael  Donnelly  and Mary Ann McMullen  to Kingston, Ontario  in 1825. Michael  Donnelly  was born sometime  around 1797 and was a labourer  in Kingston, Ontario  in 1827 when he fell off the  steeple of a church  being built.  His widow Mary Ann remarried  a John Lanaster, had more children and moved to Rochester.  Michael Donnelly 's son William  Donnelly  born 1824 was in Rochester for about 7 yrs before relocating  to the Belleville area of  Hastings  County.

My Mom has matches with Fagan and Fegan.  One match is a Madden who is a grandchild of Felix Donnelly  and Mary Ann Foster. His tree goes further back to Hugh Donnelly  and Rose Fegan. I do not know the connection between that Hugh Donnelly  and my Mom's gggg grandfather  Michael  Donnelly  of County  Armaugh, Ireland.

Hi Lilydale, I am so excited to read your post. I am very interested in looking at your family in relation to mine. I'm back as far as Hugh Donnelly and Rose Fegan but I do have quite a bit of research saved just incase.
I believe I'm the match with your mum.
Looking forward to exploring this.
