Joseph and Sarah REANEY, Coventry
« on: Sunday 22 September 13 01:21 BST (UK) »
Hi, trying to dig any extra info on Joseph and Sarah Reaney.  I have an 1841 census record for them living in Coventry, stating Joseph was born in Ireland abt1796 and was a silk ribbon weaver.  Sarah is down as being born in the same county as living (warwickshire) and born about 1811.  I have a death record for her from FreeBMD for 1849 age 39 in Coventry which fits as Joseph is down as widowed in the 1851 census.

I would love to find a marriage record for them to get a maiden name for Sarah. Their oldest child Anne was born about 1827 which would have made Sarah a young bride around 16-18.  Anne was born in Coventry also.

Any info on either Sarah or Joseph would be appreciated.

Thanks

Could this be Thomas's birth registration, he is shown as 2 on the census. That would give mothers maiden name

Joseph and Sarah had 5 children:

Ann Raney bp.14/7/1827 Holy Trinity, Coventry, dau. of Joseph and Sarah
Sarah Reaney bp.17/3/1829 Holy Trinity, Coventry, dau. of Joseph and Sarah
Joseph Reaney bp.11/8/1834 St. Michael, Coventry,          ditto
Robert Reaney bp.27/3/1837 Holy Trinity, Coventry bur.26/6/1837 St. Michael  ditto
Thomas Reaney bp.24/12/1838 St. Michael, Coventry            ditto

In 1861 Joseph the younger, and now married sister Ann are living with an aunt:

1861 - Holy Trinity, Coventry - ref. RG9 - 2207 - 93 - 26

Jane Nelson    wid.  48        Silk Trade       b. Coventry
Richard Nelson  son   24      Painter                 ditto
Joseph Reaney  nephew   26   Painter              ditto
Ann Oram        niece      33                             ditto

Since Joseph senior born in Ireland an aunt, born Coventry, likely to be a sister of their mother.

John Nelson married Jane Warring 10/3/1835 Holy Trinity, Coventry.

A Jane Waring bp.11/11/1816 St. John, Coventry to John and Mary

John and Mary had numerous children (which included a Richard who Jane may have named her son after), including a Sarah bp.4/4/1807.   The surname varies on familysearch between Waring/Warring.

The only way to confirm if Sarah's maiden name is Waring (or indeed anything else) in the absence of a marriage is to get the birth certificate of the youngest child Thomas b.1838.

Wow! What awesome info everyone!  I have quite often used the siblings census etc to fine relatives but hadn't this time. I will go plug all this into the tree and see where it takes me. Thanks for your time.
