Surviving Prisoner of War Records held in Germany for allied prisoners of war

Hi everyone,

Was just wondering how I could go about finding a researcher/military research expert who could see if there are any German created prisoner of war records for my grandfather? I already have the late grandfather's British prisoner of war documents and war service file, but  I am aware that the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) in Berlin holds about 1.5 million files for foreign soldiers who were captured by the Germans in the 2nd World War.

How can one actually find a German researcher/military researcher who specialises in that form of research? Are there any researchers that do, any websites etc.  I have all the necessary details for my late grandfather, but have so far been unable to find a German researcher or expert in this field who conducts such research.

I was just wondering if you managed to find a reseacher or any information on how to see if there would be any records of my grandfather at the Deutssche dienststelle.  I have Red Cross files and army records of my grandfather and also obtained a pow questionaiaire from the national archives. I would be very interested in any records held in Germany. I hope you can advise.

There's a few a few German and one Swiss member that I know of that visit the Bundesarchives that may be able to help. I'm not sure on how time consuming this task may be for them so they may not wish to help if it impacts on their own research but no harm in asking.

The WASt and the Bundesarchiv are two different archives.

You can send a query by yourself through a form on their website.
