Graham family in Kirriemuir late 1700s - early 1800s

Trying to locate any information on a William Graham b. 1804 and his mother and father, based on a letter from my great-grandfather, he said that his grandfather Willie Graham came from 'Kareymore' -- I'm assuming this meant Kirriemuir, unless there is a town called Karrimor.  Any information would help.  Thanks.

Yes, but what I believe my great-grandfather meant in his letter was not William Graham born in 1804 (married to Hannah Bell), but William's father's father.  I know William Graham's (1804) father was James Graham who was married to Isobel Borthwick, and I know James father was William Graham who was married to Agnes Byers...trying to trace the family back further to find out if my great-grandfather's letter is correct with any male in the family born in Kirriemuir (Kareymor).

This might be a long shot. But could the Kirriemuir/Kareymor place be Eskdalemuir which is about 13 miles from Westerkirk (I think)?? Only thinking that with local accent and spoken quickly it could be a possiblity

As you probably know there are 2 births on Familysearch to William Graham and Agnes Byers-

so the family were in Dumfries area circa 1775

Yes I knew about Sarah (1777) and George (1775), I'm not finding records for William Graham's (Agnes Byers) birth and who his father and mother were.  Trying to trace back further...I may have to take a trip to Scotland!

Graham:  Westerkirk, Hutton & Corrie, Canonbie

Wonder if it is something like Corrie Muir ?
1841 Census has references to "Corrie Common" in Hutton & Corrie.

There is a fair bit of reading to the above link and it's a bit difficult with the old fashioned spelling using an f for an s but it's worth looking at. There are several mentions of the Graham family - John Graham in particular - and a reference (although not in direct connection with the Grahams) to a place called Corriemains. This is a statistical account covering years 1791-1799.
You can also find on this website a similar report for the years 1834-45, and search for different parishes. You don't need to sign up   http://edina.ac.uk/stat-acc-scot/    just go to non-subscribers and click on browse scanned pages. Hope I've explained that ok.

My apologies!....I laughed so hard after I hit post!...I think I was "Loopy" last nite.  Thank you for the information...I'll definitely follow up on your suggestion.  I started thinking about this last nite and I thought my great-grandfather's letter mentioning 'Kareymore' may have just meant that William was in 'Kareymore' before traveling down to Canonbie and meeting Hannah Bell and marrying her.  I would suspect that work was difficult to find in those times and that people traveled quite a bit.

Excellent deduction...yes Corriemain, I think that's the right track...it would make sense since there was a hint awhile ago from a post about Agnes, William's wife coming from that area...hmmm...need to do some more investigative work!...much appreciated...It could be based on my grandfather's letter...his english in the letter was a puzzle as at first I thought was he 'illiterate'...the language was quite unusual....thanks again!...I will get to the bottom of this yet!
