1841 Look Up Please - KEMP in Lewes
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 19:47 BST (UK) »
I'm asking on behalf of my Mother in Law for any info anyone can supply on the following people:-

James (aged 30) and Ann (aged 25) Kemp on the 1841 possibly with a son, James.  James and Ann were married on 13.02.1835 at St John the Baptist Church Lewes and James occupation is listed as a Whitesmith.

Not sure if there is any more to be added to that, but anything would be of interest.

Many thanks
Claire

Hi Claire

Have looked through the 1841 for Southover (St John the Baptist) for your Kemps, but without success at the moment.

Found these Kemps in the Churchyard though between 1813 and 1895

Jan 7 1850   Maria   Kemp      36   All Saints   169
Apr 6 1855   Elizabeth   Kemp      75   St Michaels   101
Sep 20 1859   Alexander   Kemp      45   Southover   101
Mar 6 1864   Edmund   Kemp      43   All Saints   101
Feb 3 1872   William   Kemp      86   St Michaels   101

Now going to check through St John Sub Castro and South Malling

From my mother in law Sue

"Wow!! So many Kemps and Actons!! Don't know where to start. I'll have another look later when I've properly woken up to see if I can make any sense of it.

What a gem Mr. 1066 is....comes to the rescue every time doesn't he? Please could you make sure to leave him a message thanking him from me.

Claire

Say 'thank you' to Sue your Mother in law for her kind words.

I enjoy what I do helping others, it is never a chore to me to help further other peoples research.

And when all is said and done, I have spent the last 7 years working in the churchyards of Lewes transcribing and photographing the stones.

What more can a rootschatter ask for?
