Ferndale Cemetery (or nearby) - CAYFORD
« on: Wednesday 18 September 13 19:30 BST (UK) »
I still feel a bit rude asking for lookups - I've only asked for general information so far, so I feel the need to apologise in advance if I accidentally don't follow etiquette in any way shape or form. xD Or ask for something silly.

I'm interested in any Cayfords who are buried in Ferndale cemetery, especially Frederick Holloway Cayford (b. 1862, d. 1934) and his brother Lewis (b. 1857, d. 1936).

Thanks in advance for any replies. =)

Thank you so much. =)

It is the right spelling of the name; the family originated in Somerset, this was the first generation to live in Ferndale, so it doesn't surprise me that there aren't all that many.

I know it was also spelt Keyford and Caiverd at some point - but that was a few generations back, and all the records I have found consistently state "Cayford" since. =)

Of the ones you've given, I think that:
Fredrick W was Frederick's son - "Frederick Worthy"
G Lewis - Possibly also Frederick's son. "George Lewis"
Robert - Lewis' grandson.
((And possibly the others are ones I don't know about - Lewis seems a likely relation for obvious reasons. =P ))

Also Mary Ann was Frederick's wife, so that's the most exciting to see. =) I'll have to try and find that one!

I wonder why he's not listed, though. Is there any chance the records could have gone missing?

Thank you so much for the information. =)

Hmm. It is indeed!

I'm wondering if perhaps they're in Blaenllechau cemetery - Lewis and his wife Sarah "Jane" moved to Wales after the 1911 census, so I don't know where exactly in the area they lived. I know it was in the Maerdy/Ferndale area, because they still have relations who live there who I've spoken to. So maybe they just lived higher up than I thought... in which case Blaen might make sense...

... it seems strange to me that Frederick doesn't seem to be buried with Mary Ann, though. Especially since the years between their deaths isn't all that much.

Sorry. =) Llanwynno is the one I meant - just had a momentary lapse of thought.

I don't really know whether they could have been cremated, but I'll definitely have to contact them to see, now. =)

Thank you so much for the help!
