Please help! No colour needed thanks :)
« on: Wednesday 18 September 13 05:20 BST (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering if someone might be able to do something with this?
The chap was a tin miner from Cornwall & the pic is dated to the 1880's. He looks just like my father ;)
Thanks so much!

Just bookmarking this utterly fascinating photo! Candles to wear on his head....never seen anything like this.

I should mention that this, being a tintype, is reversed. All tintype images are backwards :)

Cheers,

It is fascinating isn't it China? I guess it was the best way to ensure not getting lost in the dark at the time! Thanks for the tip about it being reversed, it looks even MORE like my father when I flip it :)

Hi.......My effort.

note: I was unsure whether or not to remove the candle wax from the miners helmet, so I have left it, I can remove it if you want.

Thanks Caroline :) :)
I definitely want the wax to stay! I want it to look as authentic as possible, just hoping to get rid of the nasty scratches etc.

Roy
GUIDE FOR PHOTO RESTORATIONS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SCANNER BED IS CLEAN AND SCAN AT A RESOLUTION OF 300-600 WITH THE SCALE AT 100% MINIMUM.

If you would like a coloured version, details such as hair colour , eyes and clothing etc.  if known  would be helpful to restorers

Regards Roy
