there are lots of newspaper reports re Clara Scott's acting career - she was in Guernsey for a while.

Where did you find the middle initial G - and where did you find mother Mary's middle name to be Jane ?

Might help in our search

Did Clara Scott really have middle initial G - or did she acquire it on her marriage to James Guiver Clover (mentioned in the actor's obituary)? She's just Clara Scott in the marriage index (Mar qtr 1874 Durham).

If Clara indeed born Sheffield there are only 2, one born Jun.qtr.1852 and the other Jun.qtr.1854.   Both just plain Clara.

The latter of these registrations may be attributable to the Clara Scott born 2 Apr 1854, baptised 18 June 1854 at St Peter & St Paul, Sheffield, daughter of John (a grinder) and Harriet, abode Park.

Hi,
With regard to Mary Jane consider this as an error on my part and use plain Mary, with regard to her death it is as follows:
DAUGHTER BORN AND WIFE ANS SON DIE ON STAGE
"and with such wide experience many incidents have occurred to you" "Yes I had one daughter born in the old Adelphi Theatre, and a little son poisoned on the stage "Poisoned?" "Yes accidentally. Some poison was left in a bottle on the stage, and the little lad picked it up and drank some of the contents. But the saddest incident was the death of my wife. She died on the stage. We were acting together in the play 'Maria Martin,' at Bethesda in Wales"

This is copied from an article in newspaper I cannot post as a JPG because for some reason this thread will allow me, and the G in Clara G could very well be Guiver, the attached link shows a little more about this family.

A Bethesda death would have been registered in Bangor.

Have you ruled out this one?
