1841 census for Westminster - WILKIE

If someone has access to the 1841 census for Westminster I would be very grateful if they could try to find my gt. gt. grandparents John Wilkie and Mary Dudden Wilkie (nee Thyer). They married in Westminster on 17 Oct 1837 and gave their addresses as 45 Charles Street and 13 Medway Street respectively. In 1851 they were living at 12 Chapter Street but I haven't found them in 1841 so far.

He was a baker and general dealer born about 1803 in Dundee, while she was born about 1817 in either London or Somerset. They should have son Alexander age 2 with them in 1841.

In Medway Street I have found Thomas Thyer 50 Butcher.  Ref 737 13 f 20

He is with  Eliza aged 50, Henry a paper maker aged 20 and Betsey a dressmaker  aged 15.

Thomas and Eliza not born in county. Henry and Betsey born in county.

Any use to you?    There are no street numbers but this house is quite near the beginning of the entries for Medway Street so could be no 13. Will carry on looking along the road in case there is anyone else.

Do you have any more info on the Charles Street address - there are 4 or 5 Charles Streets coming up in Westminster?

Thanks very much for that. It must be my man. All the details etc. fit perfectly. As far as Charles Street is concerned, I don't have any more details, but they married in St Margarets, Westminster if there is one near there. Mind you that could be the bride's local church rather than the groom's. His father's name was Alexander Wilkie (I forgot to mention that before), but of course father may have stayed in Dundee and just his son travelled south.

If you can trace them I would be very grateful, but I am already in your debt for what you have managed to find. Thanks again.

I have looked at all the Charles Street refs for Westminster but cannot find your Wilkie family.  Here are the refs

The Charles Street address on the marriage certificate may have been a very temporary one.
If you get Alexander's birth certificate that may be a useful address to search.

Many thanks for looking at all those addresses. I think you are probably right and John Wilkie may have just been lodging at Charles Street before his marriage in 1837. I haven't got Alexander's birth certificate yet - that is a good idea - but I don't suppose you could have a quick look at Chapter Street, Westminster for me could you? John and Mary Wilkie were living there in 1851 and 1861, so it is just possible they were there in 1841 too. I realise this is a liberty after all your work, but I would be very grateful.

Since you asked so politely 

Have looked at Chapter Street but cannot see any Wilkies. Some of the writing and some of the images are a bit dfficult to read but I am fairly certain I have not overlooked them.
The refs I checked were 737 16 f34-37 and 737 18 23 - 34

I reckon an address from Alexander's birth certificate will be your best chance of finding them in 1841 until there is a name index. Unless of course the couple obliged with other children born even nearer to the census date - 7 june 1841.
