been away a long time
« on: Friday 13 September 13 12:52 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I have just returned to this site after many years away from working on my family history.. in fact its 3 years!!And now I am back  ;D
I was looking through some information i had gathered and for the life of me I do not know how or where i got it.  I am hoping that some one may be of help...
I have traced back by 5xggrandfather Samuel Ord christened 30.11.1783 married Christian Robson 26.03.1805 then remarried Sarah Fisher 25.05.1818.  I have all the relevant information from this date forward.. then I noticed I had Samuels brothers & sisters ... I need this confirmed if I can
Father EDWARD ORD (looks like wife Mary???) Lamesley St Andrew
Children THOMAS ORD (Chowdean) 27.06.1773
             JOSEPH ORD  (Chowdean Foot) 07.04.1776
             MARY ORD (Eighton Banks) 23.03.1777
             GEORGE ORD (Eighton ) 02.05.1779
             ALEXANDER ORD (Eighton) 10.05.1781
             EDWARD ORD (Cow Close) 29.01.1786
             JOSEPH ORD (Cow Close) 15.03.1789
             JOHN ORD (Cow Close) 22.01.1788

Can I ask....1)  Are the Birth places close to each other
                  2)  Can anyone confirm these are Samuels brothers & sisters or am i barking up the wrong tree lol!!  As I said not sure how I got this info  :-\
If I am on the right track how then will I find any information on the father EDWARD ORD - I have literally searched every where I know to no avail... he does not seem to exist - that is why I thought maybe I was wrong..
Cheers for any help

Check each of the births on the parish registers:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&region=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND
which might give clues to help you figure out if these children are siblings.

Hi Kim,

Nice to see you back on your hunt for the rellies... ;D ;D

You have had quite a few replies on your old messages over the last few years, it may worth having a looks at them.

Sarah :)

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for that.... can you please tell me how to get back to the old messages without having to troll through 3 years of posts  :o and...
what is the best site to get information older than 1813? I need info from 1780 and beyond.  I am not fortunate to live in the UK (it is on my bucket list to visit in the future!!) and get to my roots in Northumberland/Durham.
I am an ancestry.co.uk  subscriber but cannot find what I am looking for?
Kindest regards
Kim Watson

Hi Princess,

If you go into your profile and look at your email notifications, the ones at the top of the list are the latest replies and all dated so you can work out which ones you have not read yet :)

Is your email address still the same?

Regards

Sarah

See the link I provided earlier for Durham and Northumberland parish registers:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&region=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND (free)

Also:
http://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/index.php?q=1&cookiecheck=1 (pay to view)
http://www.genuki.org.uk/ (free) can also be useful. If you go to the appropriate county, then parish you will find links to whereabouts of parish records. Under "church records" many, if not most, parishes will have George Bell's transcriptions (free). Also can be purchased: http://www.ancestral-indexes.co.uk/
