Hy (Hi) Line driver
« on: Tuesday 10 September 13 11:06 BST (UK) »
I have a parish marriage entry from 1893 with the grooms occupation looking like Hy Line driver, I have no idea what this might have been. My closest guess is a steam plough driver where they pulled the plough backwards and forwards between two engines, could this be right?
Any information welcomed  ;D

It looks very much like it could be "Engine driver".

I agree Engine Driver, there is no such occupation as "Hy Line driver"

There were, of course, many "engine drivers" other than purely locomotive (steam train) drivers.

Oh dear so assuming it is definitely Engine driver, now I need to try to pin down which sort! Sighs very deeply and puts on thinking cap
