And thank you for solving the mystery of the name Stewart/Stuart.  All the men in the family had it as part of their name, including at least 3 generations of "Arthur Stuart Turner"s.

Hello Again,

It looks very much that Ellen Morrison Albin, was named with her Grandmothers maiden Surname Morrison, ie it seems to me that Stewart Albin, was Married to a Eliza Morrison.

Stewart, and Eliza Morrison, came to Scotland, from Ireland, with their children born in Ireland some time just prior to 1857.
They had two sons born Scotland, ie James Albin, 20/Feb/1857. High Church, Glasgow, and John Albin, 23/Sep/1858. High Church, Glasgow.

So it is most likely that Stewart Albin, and his wife died in Scotland, after the itroduction of Statuary Death Registrations, began in Scotland, in 1855. so if you get their death certificates they should provide the parents names of both Stewart Albin, and Eliza Morrison, which would take you back a further generation.

Regards,
Jonn.

Thank you so much for all this wonderful information, Jonn.

Where is the best place to get information and/or certificates for events taking place in Scotland?

Hi,

I've just come back to this board after a couple of years so didn't realise that this correspondence was going on.  I am an Albin by birth and Ellen Morrison Albin was an ancestor of mine. Her father was my great grandfather's brother.  I'm assuming that you are a descendant of hers and I would be fascinated to know what information you have.

Hi Connie :)

Let me organize some of my things and we can compare notes.  This is my husband's family, so I'm not as familiar with all the names as dates as those in my own family.  It will be great if we can exchange information.
