Am I right that there is nothing yet found on James Frederick Perrins (husband)?

I wonder if James Frederick the son, was illegitimate and May used her name as a married name, inventing a maiden name?

Thank you so much. It is amazing when someone can actually see something totally from another point of view!  I had never even given that a thought (and believe me I have spent hours trying to think this one through!)  It is in fact something really worth considering as May registered the birth - something that usually is done by the father.

I shall now go back to the chap who has done the family tree on Henry and Hannah and see whether there was any family gossip regarding May!

Many thanks again

Hi

Just checked the Tutbury records and found:

Richard, Rosehannah, Rebecca and May Perrins all baptised on 20 July 1873 - private baptism, children of Henry and Rosehannah.  Also a son Frederick bap. 9 August 1872 - parents given as Henry and Arina?

No May Phillips.

Not sure if this is helpful or not

Kind regards
Olwen

Olwen thanks so much for looking for May Phillips in Tutbury.  I am in contact with a gentleman who has done the Perrins tree and asked about the possibility of May Perrins having an illegitimate child as most of the paperwork I have could point in that direction.  He is going to get back to me - hopefully with information which could clear this matter up.

However I will look into the details of the Frederick you found.

Thanks again

Thanks Heywood - saves me searching!  Your idea that my grandfather could have been illegitimate has really opened a can of worms! The main researcher involved in tracing Hannah and Henry's side of the Perrins family has just telephoned me saying that he thinks this is possibly the case.  He has given me a number of people to contact who might have more information.  With a bit of luck (and lots of telephone calls) I might get to the bottom of this mystery.

What would be really nice is that, if this is the case and May Phillips really was May Perrins, I would then have a lot of the family tree already done for me (and backed up by all of his paper work)

Thanks again for all your trouble.

I have just received confirmation that May Phillips and May Perrins are one and the same person!  Thanks so much for all the assistance, especially to Heywood who put me on the right track.  I really appreciate all the help.
