Hi Footprints,

If this is your John Morrell (59), husband of Eliza Morrell, he died 16 November 1912, buried 20 November 1912 Harehills Cemetery, Leeds, Consecrated section C grave 24.

Also in the same grave Eliza (95), wife of John, who died 18 May 1947, buried 21 May 1947.

Alfred Morrell (66) buried 29 April 1943 and Arthur Morrell (59) buried 26 April 1944.

My John Morrell was married only once  to a FRANCES CHILDS. So her name at death would have been Frances Morrell. Believe she died in 1937 and is buried in Knaresborough.

As Brian has already said, this is Frances who died in 1937 :

Death, Dec qtr 1937
Frances Morrell, age 80
Knaresbro', Vol 9a, page 146

And the reason for me repeating it, here's the probate for the above person :

Morrell, Frances of Daisy Cottage, Bachelor Gardens, Bilton, Harrogate widow died
7th December 1937. Probate London 25th January to Samuel Pickup Crowther engineer
and Percy Heworth Gill dairyman.
Effects £422 7s 11d

Ian was saying the above John Morrell is the one whose death was registered in Leeds, Dec qtr 1912. Therefore the death you quoted can't the right one ?

Have you looked for deaths registered in Knaresborough ?

Kind regards,

Pels.

Just to help confirm what Ian said, the following looks the most likely family to fit
the ones who are buried in Harehills Cemetery :

1891 census :
RG12/3695, Folio 5, Page 3

Yorkshire, Leeds
6, Alma Street

John Morrell, h, mar, 37, Currier, Leather, b. Burley in Wharfdale
Eliza, wife, mar, 39
Alfred, son, 14, Mechanic Apprentice
Elizabeth Ann, dau, 11
Ada, dau, 9
Arthur, son, 6

All others born in Leeds.

Unless it's a massive coincidence and at the moment, I can't see how it can be ?

So far this is the only one I can't account for :

Death, Sep qtr 1931
John Morrell, age 76
Knaresbro', Vol 9a, page 97

But that counts for nothing, I wonder what everyone else thinks ?

Typical, I've found a candidate :

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X9RN-KJF

John Morrell married to Anne in 1901, so no further forward.

:(

Added- Forget this and see my next reply.  Sorry.

Aaahh !! I couldn't find the above chap in 1911 - in every other census he was John 'W' Morrell.

So that still leaves this one as a contender :
