Photos of Ashted Row in the 1950`s.
« on: Saturday 07 September 13 01:54 BST (UK) »
I lived in Ashted Row when I was 5 years of age and used to go down to Vauxall and Duddestion Station that was not a great distance and on my way I used to stop and watch the old Steam Trains pulling into the the yard....Spent a lot of time running around the yard....I remember that it had a Turntable...Watched "The Iron Duke" come into the yard.
What i ask is.....Does anyone have any Photos ??? Especially ones of the Iron Duke.....
This was in the early 1950`s.
Built a load of flats on the site now!!!!...
Brian

You might find something on

billdargue.jimdo.com

I was looking through a local history forum just recently which contained photos of the Ashted/Aston/Nechells area which was pulled down and redeveloped.  But now I can't find it... :-\

Put Ashted as a search term and there are some stories and photographs of Ashted Row.

Hi nanagrampy...

Many thanks for the link you sent me...The Photo of The Dog & Partridge I remember well....Seems such a pity that the Houses in the area were all demolished when the photo was taken.

Can vaguely remember the "Doctors" Houses on the other side of the street.

Also found some Interesting Photos of Bordesley Park Road in 1953....Coronation Day...

Brings back memmories..

Once again, many thanks...

Will continue to visit the site to see if they add any more Photos...

Still no joy in finding any of the Iron Duke though..

Brian.
