Thanks Ruskie. That's good advice. Splitting the thread is also a good idea.

You received a welcome at Reply#8 from Trystan who is the Rootschat main man. He, or another person with the power to do so, may be kind enough to split this for you?  ;)

hi
it may be best if you start from one of your rellies that you know is a cast iron definite ancestor and work back from there if you need help all here are willing to help, but I know it,s always nice to find new ancestors yourself but sometimes a nod in the right direction is helpful as well .

Eveline Hammersley, daughter of Titus, was my Great Great Aunt. Titus Hammersley's father, Ralph, was born in 1777 and died in 1845. He was married to Jane Greatbatch. His father was called William, not Ralph. I have much information on the Hammersley family and am happy to provide further details if Claycat36 is still monitoring this thread.

Hi all. Mostly want to reply to @woollamc since I'd like to see what help he can be in tracking down the Ralph Hammersley in my tree. Here's a bio of my 3rd great grandfather that I copied to my blod: http://kindredheritage.com/maternal/william-henry-hammersley-1832-1906/

Blog post about finding his grandparents: http://kindredheritage.com/maternal/ralph-hammersley-jane/

hi,  If you are still monitoring this let me know.  I have a Hammersley family tree done in the 1960's which starts with Titus' grand father William whose son Ralph b.1776 died in Sept 1845 and is buried in the churchyard o Hope Congregational church in Hanley, Staffs.  His wife was Jane Greatback b.1784
died June 29, 1827.   They had 10 children 9 of whom survived into adulthood. I am descended from Titus older sister Jane who married Samuel Asbury who worked for a while in Philadelphia as a china merchant taking his whole family there but later returning to the UK.  Jane's youngest daughter Mary married Spencer Green of the Crown Staffordshire China Company.   Jane's eldest son Samuel Ralph was first a missionary in India where his first wife died and eldest daughter was born.  He returned to the UK and then followed his in-laws to America where he married his 'deceased wife's younger sister".  He became an Anglican minister and eventually emigrated to Canada.  He was my great grandfather.  I am willing to share if you are still  interested.

Hi, Titus Hammersley is my 3 x Great Grandfather, I also have a family tree going back to Ralph & Jane Greatbach and William & Amy Sutton. I am particularly interested in the pottery connection and have quite a lot of information about Hammersley China. Also some information about Jane Hammersley and the Asburys. Would like to share info and hopefully fill in some blanks on the family tree.

This seems to have gone quiet a while ago, but in case someone comes looking...
I think the Ralph Hammersley living at Loxley Hall in 1841 is my ancestor, born 1762 - died 1848.
He grew up in the area, married twice, has a number of children including Ralph (Christened locally 5/4/1802).
I can't see any links to other Hammersley here!?
It may not be him at Loxley, but I can't find a likely record on 1841 census anywhere else.
