I remember "kincough" back in East Yorkshire long ago,  more as "king cough", but it could just be flaky memory.  I wonder, if it really was king cough, if it meant whooping cough -as in king of coughs?

    first up, best dressed
    (apparently quite true esp when clothes had to be passed down and mended,   person up first had best choice)
    • There was "ating (eating) and drinking in it"  describing good soup/stew 
    • Sh*t  stirring   (stirring up trouble)
