Burial record Staffordshire June 1951
« on: Tuesday 03 September 13 11:19 BST (UK) »
Would be very grateful for advice on how to trace any information on Frederick Percival ARCHER who died on 31 May 1951 in the Leek area of Staffordshire.  He was married in a civil ceremony to an Ellie T MCALEAVEY in 1934 in Cheadle so may, or may not, be buried with her.  I have been unable to find any further information on either of them, or any subsequent family, apart from the fact that Frederick was living at New Inn Longdon Stoke-upon-Trent when he died.  Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to offer.  Ljay

Hi ljay

In the first instance, I would contact Stoke's Bereavement services to see if they can tell you where he was buried as you seem to have his date of death and last known address.

http://www.stoke.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/community-and-living/births-and-deaths/bereavement-care-service/

If you haven't done so already, you can apply to HMCTS at Leeds for a copy of his will.

Probate was granted at Manchester on 28 September 1951 to John Noel Howard Pursaill, solicitor. Effects valued at £1127 4s 3d.

If you're looking for more information, what do you have already so we don't duplicate our efforts?

There doesn't seem to be an entry in the birth index but have you got him in the censuses?

Hi Dawn
Thank you very much for the help which I will follow up.
I have details on Frederick's early life up until top and including the 1911 census and his subsequent marriage but nothing then apart from the death record.  I was hoping that if I could trace a burial record there may be mention of more about him and any other family members buried in the same cemetery.  The will would probably be more helpful in that regard so thank you for the suggestion and your time.  Ljay

I take it you have details of his parents and the 1891 Census entry which I have just amended on Ancestry.

Hi William - I have his parents as William John George Archer and Elizabeth Nellie Nesbert (known as Nellie and whose father I have as David Nesbert).  The trail on the Nesbert side seems to go cold with David.  I have tried Nesbit, Nesbitt and a few other variations but no luck there.  Thanks for updating the Ancestry link.  Regards Ljay
