Storrington burial lookup, please
« on: Monday 26 August 13 16:39 BST (UK) »
One of my wife's ancestors is William Trevet, who married Elizabeth Ludby at Storrington on 3.4.1722.
There are possible christenings for him at Storrington in 1682 and 1698. The second seems more likely, but I am trying to verify this.
FindMyPast gives a burial of a William in 1704, but no details.  I wonder whether the original entry would clarify whether this was a child, and if so, whose?
Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
David.

Hi,

The burial information has been supplied by Sussex Family History Group; they might be able to give you additional details.

Thank you both for your comments.  I am not quite sure whether they answer my query, though.
The question is, would the SFHG database normally include any comments in the original such as 'son of.....' (as in e.g. FreeReg)?  If not, then I still have to hope that someone is able to have a look at the original register for me.
Thanks anyway.
David.

Yes David, I think it would.  If there was any extra information given in the original then I'm sure it will have been transcribed.  There are examples in the database that include extra details such as age, wife of, son of, widow of, occasionally an occupation or abode.

Looks as though that's a dead end, then.
Thank you very much for the further info., anyway.

David.

While age doesn't seem to have been noted against burials in the Storrington register around that time there are several other entries a year or two either side of 1704 that state "infant", "son of ...", "daughter of ..." etc. The lack of such information suggests (but doesn't prove) the burial of an adult.
