Pels. I am disappointed that you are not a descendant!
The odd thing about your reply is that I have already found out a little about the family and I WAS going to add that I was not after lookups. Then when I saw your reply I thought, oh no, I hope Pels hasn't gone to too much trouble because I already have the census information for the Crabtrees. However, one thing that was bothering me was that I couldn't find them in 1841 (I spent ages looking for them on Sunday!) - so, I obviously did not know of son George, nor did I see him living next door to the Hirsts in 1861! So you have perfectly filled in the blanks for me! Thank you.
As I believe there may be an Australian connection with a member of this family, and I discovered that Reuben Hirst became mayor of Huddersfield 1891-93 and died there in 1919, I now wonder if it was George and his family who went to Australia. I will do some investigating.
