In 1861 Harriet appears to be a servant, unmarried, in a house two doors along from where George Savage is living with wife Caroline and son William.  RG9 563 51 7
This would make sense of leaving the child with her parents in 1861 - as given by keyboard earlier.

Should have said that I searched for any Freeman in Bexhill area in 1861 and "Hariet" came up.   If you are searching for the correct spelling you won't find her.

It does indeed make sense.....and a Caroline Savage death was registered in 1864 (possibly George's wife in 1861 Census), the year before Harriet and George married...
