Very grateful for all your suggestions . I made a visit to the local archaeological society last week and the librarian agrees that it looks like Ditchside. The actual indenture is mainly printed which is why I didn't post any more of the writing
I am still trying to decide which of the many ditches in Cripplegate it is referring to. I suppose it might even be on the site of the old city ditch which was filled in in the 16th century? Thanks again.
