Hi

Does the school still exist today?  Is it known by the same name?

When and where was William Cockerill born?

Hi Carole,

William Thomas Cockerill was born 13th April 1859 at North Frodingham Yorkshire.

I have a reference to the fact he was 'Headmaster of Holy Trinity school in Vauxhall'. I am guessing this is Holy Trinity School Vauxhall Bridge Road. I do not know if this school still exists today.

Thank you for your interest.
Best wishes,
Peter

Presumably you found reference to him on this Site, Peter?

Was he a relative?

Romilly.

Dear Carole and Romilly

Thank you both for your help. Yes I am great grandson of William. I was hoping there might be some school records and pictures from his time as headmaster in an archive perhaps somewhere in Lambeth - any ideas?

I did have the Bellringer link but thank you none the less for hunting it down.

Best wishes,
Peter

He was married twice

1881 shows him single and in lodgings

In 1882 he married Caroline Walker Tilt - she died 1885

In 1888 he married Susan Elizabeth Tilt - his sister in law but the marriage cert shows him as a bachelor - not widower

Ty Carole,

Yes his first wife died shortly after giving birth to a son Charles who died a few months later. William is buried at Brompton Cem. with both his wives and first child Charles.

Best wishes,
Peter
