Hi Carol
I spent most of yesterday afternoon reading through your 2 threads about Mary Ann, absolutely fascinating and so sad. So pleased that you are managing to discover so much about her!
I have looked for a marriage for Alice Hall and there is 1 in Basford Dec 1923 to Joseph P.Quigley  7b 581.  Whether this is the correct one is anyones guess!!

I shall keep reading your updates.
Good luck

The following death looks interesting

Alice Emma Quigley Sept Qtr 1978 South East Hampshire Reg District Vol 20 Page 1512. Date of birth 6th Feb 1900. Whilst the DOB is a year out and there is a middle name it may be worth following up.

Andy

There is also this marriage from your other thread Carol:

Marriage Oct 1923
Alice Hall = Ernest Smith
District Nottinghamshire
Vol 7b Page 763

It should be possible to find children from the Quigley marriage. As it looks like it may be the easiest option due to the surname, it might be a good one to start with, even if only to eliminate it. Although not set in stone, if the Alice who married Joseph Quigley did not name a father on her marriage certificate, this may add a little weight to this being 'your' Alice. (Though of course we do know that fibs were told on marriage certificates).

Thanks to all for your posts.  On the previous thread, I received the following:

Marriage Oct Quarter 1923 Alice Hall - Spouse Smith Reg District Nottinghamshire Vol 7b Page 763
(I'm told that "Spouse" is Ernest Smith)

Thanks Ruskie - I will place (and print out) a GRO order for both the "Smith" and "Quigley" scenarios.  In the 1911 census, all member's of this family are using the surname "Fisher" so this search might get a bit tricky.

Maybe a little early to order certificates Carol.  :-\ It IS up to you of course, but someone may be able to dig up some further information to save you the cost of certificates. Not sure what advice others would give regarding this ....

The death Andy found looks intriguing too ... I am not happy with that middle name of Emma though (perhaps she added it later?  :-\), but her birth as 6th Feb is too much of a coincidence to ignore.

Ruskie - I'll do a bit of digging before ordering.  I checked my DNA matches and have no relatives with the name "Quigley", but have 50 "Smith" cousins.  I'll follow-up with some of these "Smith's"
