Where to store it all!
« on: Thursday 22 August 13 16:30 BST (UK) »
Being a believer in 'modern technology' it came as some suprise that a 'half niece'? is storing her records on lining paper in biro so she can see the whole picture and scribble updates and corrections as she discovers them.  I would prefer to store it on some form of disk, but the question is, I have G.S.P Family tree, I find this O.K. but no-one else seems to be using it and when I make an enquiry about this program I'm stumped.

Whet is the easiest/most common computer system for genealogical data storage?

Cheers,  ???  Tony.

GSP Family Tree is pretty ancient to say the least, it dates back to the 1990s, I think the last version might have worked in Windows XP.  It seems to have morphed into GSP Who Do You Think You Are Family Tree Maker which was aimed at ME, XP & Vista.  This now seems to have become Avanquest WDYTYA Family Tree Maker which does not match the original very well.

You may have to look at new family history software.  Family Tree Maker is one option, I use Family Historian and there are others.  There are a number of threads on the forum about choice of software which are worth reading.  GSP FT should be able export your data as a Gedcom file which is readable by most modern family history programmes
