Hi Ossie

What is the earliest census year that you have George on?  Perhaps you could post the full details ................. it's much easier to look for people if we know who we are looking for ie. where born/where likely to be living/occupation etc. etc..

Do you have any details from the marriage certificate?  Do please post them as well as with a name like HARRIS we really need to know more to ensure that you get, hopefully, the correct info.

Best wishes

I have only been able to look at the 1881 Census.

George Smith Harris b c 1848 in Sheerness, Kent, occupation Blacksmith. Address 18 Sheldon Street, Croydon, Surrey.

Wife Emma FRENCH b c1848 in Charlton, Kent.

FreeBMD says they were married in 1870 in Greenwich.

Children Annette M c 1873, Ernest G c 1876, Walter John 2 Apr 1877, Alice M c 1879.

I have much more on Walter.

And if it's the correct family:

John HARRIS head mar 43 shipsmith
Caroline wife 41
John W son 19 shipwright ap.
Caroline dau 15

If you look at the top of the main Kent board on here you will see a posting "Links:  Online Resources".  There is a link to pages with heaps of info on Sheppey inc. 1851 census refs. burials etc. etc..

Best wishes
