Frederick Freeman 24 living at Stepstairs Lane Cirencester occupation Musician (I believe he was a bandsman in the Army before marriage) Father Joseph Freeman Deceased occupation Labour.
Leah Palmer 23 living at Stepstairs Lane Cirencester no occupation Father William Palmer occupation gardener
Witnesses: Leo/Geo Gostling  and  M J Parsons.

I don't have the full details.

Leah Jane Palmer born sept quarter 1859 Stow on the Wold

I hope this may help someone locate him

I did find a Frederick Henry Freeman born dec quarter 1859 at Medway Kent.  When I sent for the birth certificate the fathers name wasn't Joseph, so I haven't brought it yet. It could be him not sure.  Any suggestions

I have just "walked" Stepstairs Lane in 1881 and none of your rellies seem to be there.

No Frederick FREEMAN on Gordon Beavington's 1851/ 61/ 71 census index for Gloucestershire.

Several Josephs, none in Gloucester itself.

In 1871 and 81 there is a Henry Freeman living in Barrow Gloucs born Barrow circa 1864 with father Joseph a farm labourer. Happy to post details if you think that could be him.

have found a FREDK FREEMAN age 3 born Bristol, Glos on the 1861 census his mother is listed as SOPHIA FREEMAN and it says she is the wife of GEORGE SAUNDERS?
other freeman children areGeorge, James, Mary Martha & Rees

any use ??

I've checked  Joseph's of a likely age in 1871 living in Gloucestershire but there are no more with sons called Henry/Frederick of right age.

in 1871 Sophia is now listed as SOPHIA F SAUNDERS , THE children are listed as

REES SAUNDERS, JAMES SAUNDERS & what has been transcribed by ancestry as FROST SAUNDERS aged 13 ( looking at the actual census, i see why ?), this could be FRED, and Emily saunders who was born abt 1866


looks like hey changed the surname from Freeman to Saunders

Whereabouts is the Barrow you mention Jo?

If it is Barrow Wake, that is quite near Gloucester (4 1/2 miles SE.)
