OK.....here we are:  The names are Thomas Williams b. 1839 and Mary Griffiths b.1840.  He was born in Llandybie, Carmarthenshire and she was born in Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire.  I think they got married in Aberdare which is in the Merthyr Tydfil registry office area.  The record which seems most promising is: Merthyr T 11a 480

There is a marriage in 1869 at the Merthyr Tydfil Reg Thomas Williams with Mary Griffiths on the same page 11A 603

They are married on the 1861 census with 2 month old daughter Elizabeth living Aberdare

Thank you both for your replies.  Yes, they are the ones.  And that daughter of 2 months old disappears in the 1871 Census.  They have another daughter again which they name Elizabeth.  But are they the ones whose marriage is referenced in my previous post.  Anyway, I've sent away for that certificate so we'll see what comes up.

You mean that she has died between censuses?

There are 18 deaths for Elizabeth Griffiths, between 1861 and 1865, in Merthyr Tydfil district.
In 1866, age at death was introduced.

So another possibility is:
March qtr 1867
Merthyr Tydfil district    vol 11a, page 273
Elizabeth Griffiths    age 6
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you.  The Elizabeth which appears in 1871 is only 4 years old so she would have been born in 1867.  The Elizabeth which appears in the 1861 Census as being 2 months would have been around 10 years old in 1871.
