Jeremiah Gowan
« on: Thursday 15 August 13 03:36 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I started a search for Jeremiah Gowen but gave up as I could not break down the brick wall. I have since found him as a witness on his daughter Jane's death certificate. Jane died in Monmouth, Wales in 1863. Jeremiah died in Wales the following year. I would like to find Jeremiah and Jane in the 1861 census if I can and discover who was the witness on Jeremiah's death certificate. It looks like Ami Gowen but hard to read.
 ???
thanks

Do the death certificates list their ages, addresses and Jeremiah's occupation to help find them?

Hello Kay,
Thanks for your reply. Jane was a 31yo domestic servant and living in(I think)Blaina. Jeremiah was a 54yo night watchman in an iron forge and living in the same place. I think it says B but could be wrong. It has Bedwellty and Aberystruth on the top of the certificate. :-\

I see your problem.  They may not have been living in Blaina in 1861.  I think it is in the parish of Aberystruth at the time.  Will keep looking
