MARIA GREEG/GREGG. First i would like to point out an observation made by Aghadowey yesterday that the enumerator numbers the census forms and the addresses dont always match what he has recorded i e there is no 29 Leeson Park Avenue in 1911 recorded. [ edit should have said 1901 ]

Calendar of wills and administrations
16 Jan 1904 Probate of the will of Maria Elizabeth Gregg formerly of 29 Leeson Park Ave and late of Glasthule Rd Sandycove who died 30 Dec 1904 at latter place granted to Henry B Gregg 62pds 15s 10d.

1901 census of 17 Mount Pleasant Sq ,Henry Gregg age 29 married to Henrietta Scales.
1911 census of 22 Ashdale Grove, Terenure, Henry B Gregg age 38.

12 Jan 1898 Probate of the will of The Rev William Burroughs Gregg formerly of 81 Grosvenor Sq, Rathmines and late of 22 Fitzwilliam Ave, Ormeau Rd ,Belfast,a clerk died 12 Sep 1898 at latter place, granted at Dublin to Maria E Gregg of 29 Leeson Park Ave the widow. 779pds 14s 6d.

cant see any obvious connection to your family.

My personal opinion of the census for 172 Leeson Park Ave.
John and Anne are husband and wife ,either of them filled out the census form possibly in Maria Gregg's absence giving reason for the misspelling of her name.

And his Brother Patrick Francis Murphy born 1925. Worked at Trinity College. most of his life. Retired from there in 1991.
Also there Father. Thomas Murphy Born 1890, Worked at Trinity College, Until he Died in 1937.
And Thomas Murphy, Father. John Murphy, Born 1850, Worked at Trinity College, as Stableman,
So with this Knowledge, i have Contacted Trinity College, And asked them do they keep a Record of Employees at Trinity College.Giving them the Facts .Hoping they might find some thing .Where they Lived .Might even have some Family Names..I must Try .What ever i find out i will let you know.Thank you again bob dunford

The 1901 enumerator's form clearly shows Maria's surname as GREGG-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003705745/

These are the occupants of Leeson Park Avenue in 1911-

the street adrress is shown here-

more from the murphy family in ireland.
one, peter Murphy and Patrick(paddy)Murphy never got married

Thomas Murphy married Mary Ann Duffy in 1921

leaving only Michael Murphy age 14, on the 1901 census,24  on the 1911 census who could have been the father of the children in the 1911 census except?
Dick(Richard)Murphy 1911 age 16
Mary Murphy 14
Peter Murphy 8
But he would have been to young to produce children.at 10 years old,

In Dublin, they said that there Grand Father and Grand Mother.they thought had 6 Sons and one Daughter.
Who were not on the 1901 census, or 1911 census .maybe there Children were living with them.
As there father or mothers were not there,
Also they say in Number 3 Westmoreland Street .in 1911 .Were more of Grand Fathers family, they believe his Brother Thomas Murphy  lived there.
This is what they are telling me ,
hoping this may help.from Bob Dunford

so far what you have found out.the history of the Murphy family
Mrs Maria Greeg lived at 29 Leeson Park Avenue.
her father in his will left her 779 pounds a lot of money before 1901

1901 census Maria Greeg age 49 born 1852. living in a bigger house at 172 Leeson Park Avenue
with her grand daughter Mary Kelly

and Anne Murphy age 50 born 1851 her servant.did she do the cleaning shopping cooking for her
John Murphy age 51 born 1850. stableman working in trinity college
Michael Murphy age 14 born 1887. her son
Thomas Murphy age 11 born 1890 her son
Patrick Murphy  age  19 born 1882 her son
for some reason Peter Murphy 29 born 1872 not living there
and as there Dublin family state there was 6 sons and one daughter
looking at the birth dates i can see this
Peter Murphy born 1872 Anne would have been 21 years old
ten year gap could the other children been born then
Patrick Murphy born 1882 Anne would have been 31 years old
Michael Murphy born 1887 five year gap Anne would have been 36 years old
Thomas Murphy born 1890 3 year gap   Anne would have been 49 years old

in 1904 Maria Greeg Died leaving all her money to her son
so the Murphy family had to move out of 172 Leeson Park Avenue

the Murphy family moved to 1.2 Westmoreland park
living there with them in the 1911 census
Anne Murphy age 60 head of house.
john Murphy must have died

Peter Murphy age 39 who must have came home
Patrick (paddy) Murphy age 28
Thomas Murphy age 21

now we have lost Michael Murphy who would have been age 24

Ginney (Mary) Kelly (maria Greeg Grand Daughter who must have come with them.

dick ( Richard) Murphy  age 16 born 1895 grand son of Anne Murphy but do not know who his father was
Mary Murphy age 14 born 1897.gran daughter of Anne Murphy again do not know who her father was
Peter Murphy age 8 born 1903 Anne Murphy grand son again do not know who is

as Anne Murphy sons peter Murphy and Patrick Murphy never got married
and Thomas Murphy married Mary Ann Duffy
this only leaves Michael Murphy who could not have been the father of Richard. Mary and Peter as he when they were born was to young when dick was born he was only 8 years old .so there must have been a old brother.

also in number 3 Westmoreland street we have been told john Murphy had a brother Thomas in 1911.

if all the sons hopefully were born around leeson park avenue .perhaps they all were baptized at the same church in Leeson park avenue a catholic church as they all were Catholics
can we find out if John Murphy Anne Murphy husband have any more brother or sisters.
hoping i am helping .from bob dunford.thank you again

could you advise me on the best place to find out more on my murphy family .getting marriage and birth certificates please.

first i would like to find out where john and anne murphy children were all baptised where the church is .could be some where around leeson park.where they lived .don.t know where they lived before that,

then find out where john and Anne Murphy were Married.if i can.as she came from Co Wicklow.

i am still waiting for a reply back from trinity college.as we found out
William Francis Murphy born 1928 worked there
Patrick Francis Murphy .worked there until he retired in 1991.
there father Thomas Murphy born 1890 worked there till he died in 1937
Thomas Murphy father john Murphy born 1850 worked there as stableman till he died,
and now we believe his father worked there
which is a long time for a family to work any where,

still with your help which is the very best we will get there .

Hi Bob

I take it this the family in Census 1911, Peter, Paddy and Tom Murphy with mother Ann Murphy aged 60 who is a recorded a widow, and also listed are grand children

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Rathmines___Rathgar_East/Westmoreland_Park/51273/

I have found another entry in 1901 but this one I cant be sure there is a connection
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Rathmines___Rathgar_East/Leeson_Park_Avenue/1292434/

Regards
Genseacher
in the 1911 1 westmoreland parkyou have dick murphy 16 so he was born 1895
mary murphy 14 .so she was born 1897
peter murphy 8 .so he was born 1903
now peter murphy and patrick murphy never got married
thomas murphy married mary ann duffy in 1921
leaving only michael murphy  who was born 1887 and he was to young to father any of these children
the murphy family in dublin say there was 6 or 7 sons and 1 daughter belonging to john and anne murphy
so the fathers of these children are not on the 1901 or 1911 census.
please can you advise me where i can find details of john murphy and anne murphy marriage.
also john murphy baptism.and death
 anne murphy  death
and john and anne murphy full list of children
willing to pay to find out

Hi Moderators

Any chance these topics can be moved to this topic "help with my irish family tree please" and maybe rename with the surname murphy in the topic  i.e. help with my irish family murphy tree please.
It is getting very confusing !!!
