« on: Saturday 10 August 13 21:34 BST (UK) »
Hi could anyone advise me my g grandfather  george henry hill married annie elizabeth morton in 1874 age full in Sheffield Yorkshire, fathers name william occupation labourer. I have found a george henry hill on the 1851 census age 1 with father william  mother caroline born wolverhampton staffs, on the 1861 he is living with william and caroline  but states he is a grandson I am unable to find him on the 1871. On the 1881 census he is living in ardsley yorkshire with wife annie occupation coal miner born rochester  staffs on the 1991 he is a wire cleaner and birth place is walsall staffs with wife's name hannah s hill,  then on the 1901 census he is a labourer and his birth place states sheffield yorkshire.I am certain this is the right george henry hill as his children names his wife's maiden  and his sheffield address are correct from the information my grandmother told me.Would his death certificate have his place of birth on or is there any other way I can verify I have the correct george henry hill.
hope this makes sense regards sue

Hi

From the 1851 census William and Caroline have a daughter Susan aged 19 living with them,

Found this baptism:

George Henry Hill baptised 5 Mar 1850 St Peters Wolverhampton. Fathers name a blank, but mothers name SUSANNA.
ABODE: Townwell Fold (address they are living at in the census)
In the box saying fathers occ. SERVANT is written.

Thanks Claire and everyone, unfortunately there is no headstone for George but  just a thought the next time I go to the archives I will check the burial books for a date of birth. Also the  witnesses are his wife's brother and his girlfriend so no luck there.and it does seem strange that his mother called another son George maybe her husband did not know George was her son.
once again thanks sue.
