Gilmore Family Down Ireland
« on: Saturday 10 August 13 14:41 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on the Gilmore/Gilmour family.  My Great Grandfather David Gilmore/Gilmour was born in Down in 1846, his wife Elizabeth Mary Gilmore(her maiden name as well as her married name) was also born in 1846.  They were married in Ballyphilip/Portaferry in 1868.   Two of their children David George and James were born in Down.  David's father was Patrick and mother Jane.  Elizabeth's father was Patrick or James mother Helen or Ellen.

Hello,
I can't offer any help, but I am looking for information about my great-great-grandfather Patrick Gilmore b. abt 1825. His father was Owen Gilmor and he was from County Down. He was living in Durham, England(1850s), later Leeds (1860s, 70s) and then he and family emigrated to New Jersey, US in the 1880s, where he died. He was married twice, don't know the first wife, the second was Margaret Cryan of Roscommon origins.

Thank you for looking at my post.  There may be a family connection, but I have not come across an Owen Gilmour in my research.  :)

Thanks Jim,  for your help and the time you spent getting the information from Ros Davies website.  I did have a look at it and the David and Elizabeth that you mentioned were my great grandparents, a.nd David and George were my father's uncles.  Thanks again for your help.  :)
