Thanks for the post re the valuation rolls, yes I found him on that, have managed to come up with quite a bit of information on him now. Bit of a sad story, both his mother, his brother and himself all ended up in asylums and died young
Went to Dundee Uni and got access to the asylum records for both him and his brother - rather depressing reading. Thanks to everyone for all your input to my original query. Much appreciated!
