I guess you found brother Hugh Doherty's death in Narrandera, NSW with parents Michael and Hannah in 1914.

He married in 1898 in Victoria to Eliza (Elizabeth) Fitzgibbon

Hugh's arrival there in 1890 means that he could be the uncle Hugh my ggmother remembered and said my father reminded her of. He left after she did.  I hope for Hannah's sake that Hugh was the youngest-- she bore Patrick in 1832 and Hugh in 1855; that's a long stretch.  It also indicates there may be many children (more than just William and, I'm hoping, my Mary) in between.
I cannot find them in Ireland!  or England or Scotland, on Family Search, ancestry, Donegal Resources or this new Irelandxo. Not birth, marriage or death or census abstracts.  Grr!
I wonder why, since Patrick and his brothers did so well for themselves, they didn't offer to take my ggmother.  She came to USA to live with people who must have been strangers to her.  Certainly Patrick could have afforded to send enough to keep her and her sisters for the few years until they married.
My ggmother corresponded regularly with her sister Mary but neither kept the letters.  I wonder if they also corresponded with their relatives in Australia and whether any letters survive.
It's wonderful to have all this on these three guys!

This seems to be Hugh's grave (he died Dec 31 1914) which indicates he was born in 1845

The obit was hard to read - perhaps age was 69 ...?

Hmm; odd.  That makes him 53 at his marriage; 45 when he arrived.  The ancestry version of the death record does not give a birth year; though it does for the Hugh Doherty who died in Nov. 1913-- he was born about 1845.  Our Hugh's death was registered in Narrandera, NSW.  The other fella died and was registered in Bairnsdale, Victoria.  Unless the findagrave data enterer got confused, I have to assume the newspaper reporter messed up his math by 10 years.  The paper says 60 for sure, I zoomed right in.  Well, I'm relieved on Hannah's behalf, anyway.  Maybe William was her last in 1849.

I am not sure what to say - but I have read through the comments and I believe that the Michael Doherty and Hanna Gibbons discussed are the grandparents of my grandfather.  My grandfather was Hugh Doherty  - twin with Hannah Norah Doherty  B: 4/5/1902 
I am trying to trace my family history and am working on my grandfathers side.  Anything you can share would be great and I would be happy to do the same.

Sadly, what you've read in these 4 pages of comments is all I know.  I have not been able to establish that Michael and Hannah Gibbons Doherty had a daughter Mary, much less whether if they had, it was my gggmother.  The circumstantial evidence is compelling-- the clipping of the "Lumber King" article being still in family possession, the fact that my ggmother, Annie Callahan was sent to America to live with Gibbons sisters, that Annie's sister was named Hannah; and I can't remember how I traced it now, but the 1901 census has a Michael Doherty living in Tirargus with a nephew visiting named Henry who was the right age to be Annie's sister Mary's son, and somehow I did connect Michael with parents Michael and Hannah but I can't recall now how I did that.  Tirargus was the home townland of Annie's sisters Mary and Bridget when they married in 1892 or so.  Annie told my aunt that her mother (Mary) was born in England, but I have nothing at all to support that.  I cannot find a marriage cert for Mary Doherty and James Callahan, or birth records for Annie or Mary Callahan.
