Derelict house decorated with shells, Ballyshannon
« on: Sunday 04 August 13 20:13 BST (UK) »
I hope someone can give me some information on a derelict house decorated with shells and broken pieces of crockery in Bishop Street, Ballyshannon. My husbands grandfather is supposed to have lived there in the early 1900s. Many thanks, Betty

Have you not tried the local paper in Ballyshannon?

I was born in Ballyshannon but brought up in Lancashire, but never been back home.

There use be a site for Ballyshannon run partly by Paddy Donagher.

I will e-mail him and ask him.

Hi
My Grandfather lived in the Shell House in Ballyshannon - his name was Robert George Anderson.
This is a picture of it that I've found.  http://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/images/survey_specific/fullsize/40852009_1.jpg

My mum has a picture of me and my sister/s standing outside it when I was little. My Grandfather was a joiner by trade and made coffins and had his own shop in Ballyshannon - I can't find any reference to it so if you have any info on that I would love to hear about it.

Sharon
