WILLIAM SMITH b. 1855 Carlisle
« on: Sunday 04 August 13 12:55 BST (UK) »
Hoping that someone out there can help me. This is my Great Grandad. He suddenly disappears after the 1881 census, never to be heard from again ! My Gran ANNIE ELIZABETH SMITH was born in 1885 and he's listed on there as Father ( OCC; PLUMBER/ GASFITTER) !  I have sent for 2  death cents to no avail ! My Great Grandma MARGARET ANN ARMSTRONG lists herself as "married" in the 1891 census but he's not on it, her occ being "Nurse/ Domestic servant" living Carlisle. Their children living with her parents. In 1901 she is listed as widowed living with her children and widowed Father. She is not buried with his name on grave but with her family members ( 1935 Rotherham Yorks) She is on 1911 census living with married daughter in Rotherham.
This is last census he was on in 1881;

39, Senhouse St, Workington,, Cumberland, England
OCC; GASFITTER Living with wife MARGARET and children RUTH, WILLIAM SMITH. ALSO LIVING WITH THEM IS; JOSEPH BECK/ ELIZABETH ARMSTRONG ( wife's sister) and family

These are death cents that are incorrect;
 ???
1) Sept Qtr 1894 COCKERMOUTH 10B 314. ( COALMINER OF HIMBY) in infirmary, Workington

2) Sept Qtr 1897 CARLISLE 10B 337 ( POLICE CONSTABLE) WIFE ; AGNES SMITH

I have tried for years to find his whereabouts and I am beginning to think that he had a secret family!!!

Anyone think of anything else that I can try to locate his death ? Would be most grateful if you can !
Angela
