Dblanch.... Your Grandma Helen would be a sister to the Edward who married my relative Frances. Their father's name was Hite Edward Johnston. His son was named Edward Hite Johnston. Helen and Edward would have only been 1 year apart in age. The children of Hite and Gladys were Eleanor, Helen, Edward, Mildred, Norman and Elmer.
I have the same birth year and birth place as you do for Hite. We are definately talking about the same people.
The Frances I am seeking would be your great aunt by marriage to your Great Uncle Edward. I cannot find out what happened to them. Maybe we can work on this together? I didn't get to examine the attachment before it was removed.

So My grandmothers, brothers wife. Interesting. In my notes from my mother, I have  at lease a few notes on all the kids but Edward.    He may have been a very private person. All she said was Died 1967, Seattle, Wa.. possibly March.

Another interesting fact was that all the kids had nicknames. like Norman Was Casey, Mildred was Milly, Elmer was Bud etc However  Edward has no NicName.

Are you related to Edward or Frances his wife?

Diane

Hite died in March of 1967. Are you saying that his son Edward died at the same time?

I have a photo of Edward and Frances marriage certificate. On November 26, 1935, at the age of 16, Frances married Edward Johnston. He was about 19 when married. Both mothers were witnesses. Mrs. H. (Hite) Johnston, and Mrs. W. A. Anderson and they signed the marriage certificate as witnesses to the marriage.

No I have no information on who Helen married. I am trying to find out what happened to Edward and Frances. The two mothers that were present were Mrs. H. Johnson and Mrs.W. A. Anderson. There is a picture of Edward and Frances marriage certificate on Ancestry.com. Just search for Edward Johnston and the date November 28, 1935 under marriages and you will see it. I do not know if I am allowed to put it on this site.

Looking at the 1920 census, Frances was listed as 6 months old.  As the census was done in January, 1920, that probably puts her actual birthdate around June/July 1919.

In the 1930 census, there was William A, Elfreda M, and Frances E. living in the household
In the 1940 census, William was 52, Elfreda was 49, Phllyis, 20 who is actually Frances ( I suspect sometimes the enumerators heard or spelled names incorrectly) and married to Edward Johnson (should be Johnston), 24. They are all living with William and Elfreda, Frances parents.
