Hello everyone
I have been doing my family tree for a while and though it is great getting information like birth, marriage, death, residence and occupations there is one person on my family tree that intrigues me more than any other. My Great Grandfather Frank Dodsworth was born in 1893 in Cockermouth. By 1911 he was a Pony Pit Driver in the coal mines in Sheffield before going to war in WW1 in the Royal Field Artillery (no records survive). He then went onto become a Carter at the local Steelworks in Sheffield (you would class this as a modern van driver these days). However, there are stories I have been told as I grew up that Frank owned his own haulage/transport business in Sheffield somewhere from 1921 until half way through the war when the business was requisitioned by the Government. My question is, is there anyway of finding out business names and information on this from around that time and if so where might this be held? My Mum believes the business could have been F Dodsworth and Son but she is not sure at all.
Thank you in advance
