Knox/Barclay, Beith

Hi folks,

is anyone researching Knox or Barclay in Beith?  I seem to now have a brick wall and I think I'll struggle to get any further.

I have the marriage of John Knox and Elizabeth Barcly (my g.g.g.g.g.grandparents), 25th November 1797 in Beith and having the following children:

Janet – born on 7th October 1798 in Beith.
William – born on 21st December 1800 in Beith.
Jean – born on 8th December 1802, Christened on 12th Dec 1802 in Beith.
Elizabeth – born on 18th May 1804, Christened on 27th May 1804 in Beith.
Fulton (g.g.g.g.grandfather) – born on 14th February 1810, Christened on 18th February 1810 in Beith.

Can anyone take this back any further or even provide more details on what I have (births/deaths).  Also any idea if this family is anything to do with the Knox Mill in Kilbirnie?

I know this is an old post but I've just joined and I have Knox from Ayrshire.  George Knox b. around 1816- some records say Lanarkshire  some do not --it varies. I probably don't have the correct birth.  He married Agnes Boyd in 1836 having numerous children including my G Grandfather William Knox b. 1861, Kilburnie .  I have George's death as 1897 Bank St. Kilburnie.
Their other children are:
Thomas 1836-another Thomas 1851
Jean     1838-another Jean 1848
Andrew  1841
George  1853
John 1856-another John 1858

I do have a good amount of info on the children but am looking for George the father's birth and parents.    I too wonder if they are related to the Knox mill.

Hello,

Are there any of my long-lost relatives still out there?? Jet Carson? I have also traced my tree back to John Knox and Elizabeth Barclay, married 1797. My line descends down via Fulton, then Robert, then to his daughter Maggie who then married a Robert Dawson. They were my g.g.granparents. Amazing. I would be very grateful if the posters above could share the knowledge they have about the Knox family. I can't get further back than 1797 but that's pretty good going!
