May I ask some questions about your elusive Andrew RENWICK ....

:)  What were his parents' names
:)  When and where born (May 1853-22 = 1831 ish)
:)  Where have you already looked for him
:)  How do you know he came to Australia

Have you tried the fantastic live links within each of the child boards at RChat's Australian Resources Board ..... :) http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,165.0.html

Your post has actually managed to land itself on the Australian Lookups completed board.

I will let a moderator know, and I will ask them to move it to the main Aussie Board.   :)

Cheers,  JM

And not to overlook this fantastic thread  :)

Many thanks Jim for all the helpful information which I will follow up.

Andrew was born abt 1831 in Hamilton Lanarkshire to James Renwick and Margaret Gage.

1851 he was living in Glasgow with his parents and siblings.  So he must have made his way to Australia between 1851 and 1853.  I know this because his parents have his death inscripted on a Headstone at the family grave in Hamilton Old Parish Church, Lanarkshire.

Regards

Moira

Unclaimed letters would be returned back to the GPO then a list of recipients Gazetted in this case it was the Victorian Government Gazette in November 1852.  There were hundreds of names gazetted in this list including an Andrew Renwick of Melbourne.
