Emma Spencer - died 1921 /death notice
« on: Sunday 28 July 13 12:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to locate the death notice for:
Emma Spencer, 232 East Francis Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Died: 21 September 1921.  Her husband was George Arthur Spencer.
I am hoping that her death notice would say if they had children.
Any help would be great.

Eileen

Looks like George Arthur Spencer remarried again 27 January 1923 Thunder Bay. Still living at 243 E Francis Street.
Charlotte Maud Boulter was a spinster aged 33 years.

Hi Sandra

Thank you so much for your reply.  Yes, I saw that he had remarried but it is the children (if any) of George & Emma that I would like to trace.
Emma's sister, Olive (my g grandmother) died young leaving one daughter Doris who moved to Ireland 1915.  We know little of the Brearley family and would love to find out if there are decendants in Canada.

thanks so much for your help
Eileen

Perhaps the 1921 census will help when it eventually appears. Otherwise you are restricted by the privacy laws in Canada. There are no Central registries/indexes in Canada for BMDs.  Canada has very strict privacy laws and each province imposes its own even further.  Additionally, some provinces are more research friendly than others so researching in Canada can be challenging.  The last available Canadian Census was 1911 apart from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta which was 1916 and 1921 being indexed at the moment and due soon............ (maybe)   As a guide BMD Records are only available for births more than a 100 years ago, marriages 80 years ago and deaths 70 years ago. An Obituary for George Spencer may help if one could be found.

Hi Sandra,
Emma Brearley was 38 when she married 1914 so maybe they did not have children.

George Arthur Spencer died December 7, 1943 in Thunder Bay. I found information on George which states ' Lodge: Sons of England at Fort William'  would you have any idea what that is?

Eileen

It would be the Grand Orange Lodge of Canada and there was a chapter in Fort William, Ontario

Have you contacted the library at Thunder Bay to see if they could locate an Obituary for George ?
Can always "ask" -

Grand Orange Lodge of Canada!! That puts yet another slant on the family tree, I look forward to investigating that.  I have sent an email to the Thunder Bay Library (thank you for that link) hopefully they will be able to give me some information.
Sandra, thank you so much for your help.
