Looking for records of David H Prosser post 1881 census

An ancestor David H Prosser born 1864 Londont then resident in Newport Monmouthshire cannot (well at least I cant find him) be found in a census return after 1881 .... neither can I see a marriage or death record...?is there anyone who can find him?

Would this be David Henry Prosser, born 14th September 1864, Employed by the Great Western Railway?
1st August 1880, Superintendents Office, Newport
November 1884, D.G.M.O. Cardiff
Resigned 7th September 1889

Emigration?
Passenger lists only started in 1890; possibly he "escaped" before the lists?!
