Mary Ann CARR Tasmania

Can anyone help me to find Mary Ann CARR. She married James WARREN 26th January 1835 Tasmania. She is a mystery, where she came from. Her parents.  thanx.    jimnic.

There is a family tree on *A* that gives a James Macy Warren, a convict, who married 26 Jan 1835 at Port Sorrell, Tasmania a Mary Ann Carr

According to the Tas records, James WARREN, arr on the Mary, applied for permission to marry Mary Ann CARR in December 1834.  She had come to Tasmania as a free person. No other details

Looking at the arrivals list, again on Tas records there is no Mary Ann CARR listed, however there this possible, although it's a bit of a long shot.

Also, perhaps, she may have arrived as the child (or wife) of a military man.

I am not of the opinion that working through the findings of other searchers on other forums  will be a real help. Online requests and family searches do not always amount to fact, any more than our findings here on R’chat may, and some have found them to be be quite misleading.
 
We all know of course about the dubiousness of online family trees as a basis for genealogy.  Very unsound.(unless certification is viewable)

I am only sorry I am not well equipped with Tasmanian resources as it would be a very worthwhile exercise I think to “start from scratch” with this particular man and his wife.

Perhaps those in the group with such privately held reference material will see the post and come up with something helpful.

Well, for a start they weren't married in Port Sorell, they were married in Sorell.  Two different places at opposite ends of Tassie.

I cannot see a marriage for anyone else named CARR in that area so perhaps she didn't have siblings nearby.

The only evidence I can find of any children to this couple is daughter Mary Ann baptised in 1836.  James was a Constable at York Plains which tallys with his conduct record.

A man named William CARR died at Sorell in 1852 aged 64.  There was an inquest but no family mentioned.

If the information from Deb relates to the man who was the husband of Mary Ann CARR, and father of the daughter in 1836, these snips may be relevant as they relate to a Constable WARREN in the region of York Plains, Sorrell and Hobart.
