Wonderful assortment Sandy and Sarah, very productive.

A friend has been knitting poppies for a local project lately and the pattern is very simple, so thought I'd share ...
50 stitches Red DK needle size approx 3.25/10 - 4.5/7 to suit
10 rows K2 P2 Rib
2nd last row K2 tog across row ( row 11 )
last row Sl 1 K2 tog across row
thread wool through loops and draw up
stitch up end edges to form cup of poppy
I used some scraps of 4 ply last night and made two using smaller needles, 2.75/12
Second one I put on only 44 stitches and did 8 rows of rib and then decreased.
I haven't done the centres yet, may use a black button but friend knitted hers
.. 10 stitches Black DK
K 8 rows, cast off
Thought just now that I could have done the two decreasing rows in black, would probably look right and simplify it more
