Bacchus Winden at the Battle of Trafalgar
« on: Tuesday 23 July 13 13:19 BST (UK) »
Baptised Bacchus Wendon 14th Feb 1762 Ardleigh,Essex. He served as an ordinary seaman on HMS Polyphemus during the battle. Ship's pay book number SB 520 where there is a note: From Royal William late Ganges. I'm looking for help with other naval records, pension etc if anyone has access. Winden/Wenden down to his accent I guess. Youngest son of a farming family he probably ran away to sea via Harwich, just a few mile away.
