Trelech / Cenarth Area Burials
« on: Monday 22 July 13 19:33 BST (UK) »
I am seeking the death records / burials of my great great grandfather and his wife

DAVID JONES born abt 1816 at PENBOYR, CARMARTHENSHIRE
ANNE JONES born abt 1818 at KILRHEDYN, CARMARTHENSHIRE

They married 30th August 1838 at Cilrhedyn, Carmarthenshire

They had 13 children in total and I can trace the parents up to the 1871 census when their two youngest are still at home with them.

Known addresses :-

1871 - Cwrt y Graban (Cwrtygraban), Cenarth (sons Joseph and Benjamin are with them)
       (RG10/ 5543/48 p 6)

1861 - Park-y-Lan, Cenarth with 7 children, 3 of those children were born here
       (RG9/4179/36 p 4)

1851 - listed at Lan, Cenarth (which I believe to be Park-y-Lan) with their first 6 children
       (HO107/ 2482/189 p 5)

I cannot locate either of them in 1881 so it is possible both died between 1871 and 1881. Does any member have burial records for the Trelech / Cenarth, Carmarthenshire areas please which could identify if both died and are buried together with their last known address of Cwrtygraban, Cenarth

Thank you

Hi

Deaths for that period will show ages to help narrow it down.  In 1871 they were living in the Newcastle in Emlyn registration district which could narrow it further

I'm not familiar with Welsh burial transcriptions but very few English ones give address details.

You need to pin down a year etc as there are too many possibilities between 1871 -1881

There's a DAVID JONES burial at Cenarth, age 68, on 1 Aug 1879, abode Tangenylen? Age is a few years out though. Edited to add: can't find a matching death record  ???

I have found CWRTYGRABAN on a location search for the 1881 census, a new family are now the occupants fuelling my theory David and Anne may be deceased, as they don't appear anywhere 1881 - 1911

Re: Trelech / Cenarth Area Burials - UPDATED NEW INFORMATION

I have new information which may help locate the graves I'm searching for :-

I now have Anne Jones death certificate stating she died 23rd June 1880 aged 62, and also she was logged as being wife to David Jones a labourer.

Anne Jones died at CILFOD FACH, CENARTH so will that help any member find her burial place please

I have also found her husband still alive in 1881 and 1891 still living at CILFOD FACH, CENARTH, he was 75 in 1891 and a grandson John Jones was with him. On previous census David Jones lists his place of birth as Penboyr but in 1881 and 1891 he has put Llangeler, which is a stones throw from Penboyr.

I have found 3 possible deaths for David registered at Newcastle Emlyn, one in 1894 and two in 1900 which would explain why he's not around in 1901, this may help find his wife's grave if David was placed on top of her
