Hi Damian

The RC church website is at http://www.stambrosekidderminster.org.uk/page09.asp You will need to check if it's the only one.

Google for photographs, but watch copyright laws.

The old-maps.co.uk website has a very useful 1:2,500 town plan.  Use Silver street as the modern locator, then select the 1884 map.  Union Street seems to be de-listed, but physically still there.

Kidderminster does have a Civic Society which may help you.

Try also the local newspaper The Kidderminster Shuttle http://www.kidderminstershuttle.co.uk/

Cheers

Hi,

Kidderminster Workhouse was located in Sutton Road, the site of the old Kidderminster Hospital. The only part still standing is the entrance lodge. If you join the facebook group 'Kidderminster Past and Present' they have loads of photo's of not only the workhouse, but also streets, churches and other items all relating to Kidderminster.

To answer your second question, most of the records you require will be held at The Hive in Worcester. This is the record centre for Worcestershire. If you go to the Worcestershire County Council web site and follow the link, it will show you what records they hold.

Hi Damien,

Kidderminster Past is a facebook group. The link is www.facebook.com/groups/KIDDPAST.

If you post questions on there, normally somebody will answer them for you, as the people on there are very knowledgeable about old Kidderminster and also there are lots of photo's.

Regards

David

Hi Damian

Have you tried getting in touch with Kiderminster library as the staff there are very helpful & they may be able to e mail you what you are looking for as they have a lot of books in their local studies area.  I visit that library once a week when Im on holiday with cousins about 4.5 miles away from it at Hartlebury & will be going to WOR for about  6 weeks on 5th AUG.  You could also try getting in touch with the Hive at Worcester as the record office has moved to this new building & there is a very big library there as well which could also well contain images of the workhouse in Kidderminster - its been a hospital for years & the old workhouse vanished a long time ago but I can remember the building when it was an old peoples home as I was one of the Broadwaters Players that used to go their some times to try & entertain the old people.

Sorry to go on so but once I start Its a job to shut me up lol

All the very best
