Can anyone tell me the location of the Moffat Old Cemetery please.
I have some Halliday ancestors buried there. Is there any map of the cemetery with names does anyone know?
Thank you.

Hi Judy
Moffat old cemetery is right on the main street in Moffat, you cannot miss it. Dumfries and Galloway FHS have published an index to the gravestones.

Hi Judy,
I have the MI booklet for Moffat Parish Church so if you let me know the names of your ancestors and their years of birth or death if possible, then I can look them up for you.
I will let you know if I come up with any of them.

As Ian said ih is post above, DGFHS have published a survey of the MIs for Moffat Old Graveyard
His web address missed out the last bit, it should be
www.dgfhs.org.uk/
Here is the actual list of publications to give you an idea how inexpensive these booklet are. But go on to the website and download their Order Form if you intend to use their Mail Order Service.
Cheers,
Sy

Thank you all for the replies.
I have now been to Moffat - a lovely little town and have found my Ancestors Grave. Most of the Memorials are quite easy to read.
Thank you also for the web site I may order some of the publications.

Hi Judy
Who are your Halliday ancestors? I have a lot of information on Halliday's from this area. I have traced my Halliday's back to 1680 including over 100 years in Moffat. It would be great to share information.

Hello Karl, my Hallidays were from Kirkmahoe in 1770, prior to that ?
My I pick your brain, genealogically speaking?

Hey Susan
Sorry its taken me a year to respond to your post here. I have had a break from FH. The only Halliday I have in my tree from Kirkmahoe was Robert Borthwick Halliday (1867 - 1944). Robert's record of death puts him in Kirkmahoe.
Robert was born in Moffat and later moved to Pebbles where he farmed at Over Menzion in the parish of Tweedsmuir. I assume in his later years he moved to Kirkmahoe.
If you are still researching and this is helpful please let me know.
